Marty
presents "Mostly Folk"
from November through March.
The introduction
theme is a famous `rag´
-- The Entertainer -- by an early 20th Cent.
African-American musician and composer.
The programme is
divided into segments so as to showcase the whole spectrum of folk music:
contemporary, traditional, political, historical, bluegrass, folk/rock,
crossover, and the folk music of minority cultures and countries --
English-speaking and other languages as well.
Each show
presents a segment featuring a well-known performer or group.
Marty has been acquainted
with the folk music scene in the U.S. since the early 1940's. He has
personally known Pete Seeger, Woody Guthrie, Harry Belafonte and many
more and has seen most of the famous perform live. All the music on
the program is from his personal collection.
Marty
has been active in theatre productions since he wrote and directed his
first play in the 4th grade. He founded amateur theatre groups in the
U.S. and Israel and is currently a prominent member of the Nerja Players,
appearing in their annual Christmas show at the Cultural Centre and
in "Animal Farm."
In additon to those mentioned, his favourite singers are John Denver
and Paul Simon.
