David Baird
focused his research on the guerrillas based in southern Spain,
especially those operating around his adopted home village of
Frigiliana in Axarquia. Resistants in the maquis had remain active
after the Spanish civil war, armed by the Allies. They they found
themselves isolated. amd their battle was with the Civil Guard
who, under the orders of Franco, were tasked with the elimination
of any final resistance at any cost.
This conflict
split families and friends, and continued unseen in places like
Frigiliana. This book is a record of a little known or discussed
part of the country's history, that has been painful to recount,
and yet is necessary in the understanding of what lies behind
twenty first century Spain.
Other books
ny David Baird include East of Malaga.
